In the past three years, my family mourned the departure of two significant figures in our lives to Cancer:
Por Por and Mak.
Por Por passed away unexpectedly of colorectal cancer 19 June 2005. She underwent surgery to recover, but succumbed to it two weeks later. He sufferings in the end were not exactly what she deserved, after facing so many challenges through her 83 years of life. It was; unfair.
Mak. Her passing on 31 March 2008 after succumbing to small bowel cancer 6 months later was expected but hard to accept. She has had nothing but sufferings in her life, and the last two surgeries were not exactly how we would want her life to end. She did not even get to enjoy the fruits of her labour. Probably God has better plans for her, taking her away at 58.
Deep in my heart, I secretly wish that Por Por and Mak are now reunited and are no longer suffering.
We were devastated at their premature departure. But as it is always, life goes on.
